Founder’s Story: A Letter to You 

Sometimes life changes the way we see ourselves.

Beauty can be one small ritual that helps us remember who we are.

Hello friend,

Lotus Beauty Co. didn’t begin with skincare.

It began with a pair of lashes.

In 2020, after losing a young friend to breast cancer, I found myself thinking differently about time, purpose, and what I wanted to do with this one precious life.

I was a busy mom who loved the way a little beauty could make me feel more like myself. And one day, while thinking about lashes, a question came to me:

What do women with cancer do when they lose theirs?

That question became Magnetic Mom Lash.

I created natural looking magnetic lashes for busy women and for women navigating cancer.

As I began connecting with cancer boutiques, hospital gift shops, and the women they served, I kept hearing the same question.

“What else do you have?”

I didn’t know it then, but they were planting the seed for Lotus.

They showed me that the need was so much bigger than lashes.

Women were trying to navigate beauty while their skin, bodies, and reflections could suddenly feel unfamiliar. They were questioning ingredients and wondering what they could trust.

I understood the questioning.

I had begun looking more closely at what I was putting on and into my own body, too.

And I started asking:

What might beauty look like if care came first?

Then my own life changed.

Magnetic Mom Lash grew and eventually took me to QVC, an opportunity I had once only dreamed about. But when I needed support to take that leap, I felt very alone.

So I chose myself.

I chose to show my children that their dreams are worth following, even when the path is uncertain and not everyone understands.

What followed was one of the hardest seasons of my life. Eventually, I closed Magnetic Mom Lash, and so much of the life I thought I knew fell away with it.

For a while, I thought I needed to find myself again.

But slowly, I realized something.

I had been there all along.

Beneath the expectations.
Beneath the roles.
Beneath the fear.
Beneath all the ideas of who I was supposed to be.

There I was.

I didn’t need to become someone new.

I needed to remember who I had always been and be brave enough to be her.

That is where Lotus began.

Magnetic Mom Lash was the seed.

It introduced me to women who showed me what was missing and gave me the courage to imagine something bigger.

A beauty company created with women navigating cancer at its heart.

Thoughtful skincare and cosmetics for skin that may feel sensitive, stressed, irritated, or simply different than it once did.

Beauty created with care, intention, and respect for the woman using it.

And somewhere along the way, I realized something else.

You don’t need a cancer diagnosis to need this kind of care.

Skin can become sensitive for so many reasons.

And there are just as many reasons we can lose sight of ourselves.

You don’t have to explain yours here.

Women navigating cancer will always be at the heart of why Lotus exists. But our products are for anyone whose skin needs gentleness, and the soul of Lotus belongs to anyone who has ever looked in the mirror and longed for that little spark of recognition.

Or maybe it is simply catching your reflection and realizing that the person you thought you had lost was never really gone.

Oh. There I am.

That is what return to self means to me.

Not going backward.

Not becoming who you used to be.

Remembering the person who was there all along, and finding the courage to let her be seen.

If Lotus can give you even one of those moments, then it is doing exactly what I created it to do.
