Coco-Caprylate

What it is
Coco-caprylate is a lightweight, plant-derived emollient made from fatty components commonly sourced from coconut. It helps skin feel smooth and silky without the heaviness of a richer oil.

Why we use it
We use coco-caprylate to help soften the skin and give our formulas an elegant, non-greasy feel. It improves the way a cream glides over the skin and helps it absorb beautifully rather than feeling like it is sitting on the surface.

Why it's considered safe

  • Used in cosmetics as an emollient and skin-conditioning ingredient

  • Reviewed as part of a broader group of cosmetic alkyl esters

  • Considered safe for cosmetic use when formulated appropriately

Good to know
Some of the ingredients that make a moisturizer feel luxurious are not the ingredients you hear about most often. Coco-caprylate is one of them. Its job is to provide softness, slip, and a silky finish without leaving skin feeling coated or greasy.

The Lotus Standard
We chose coco-caprylate because nourishing skincare should still feel beautiful to use. It helps give our skincare the soft, weightless finish that makes it comfortable for every morning.
